Gem Hunting with Yvonne Jiew
Yvonne's passion is in colored stones. Originally from Australia, she is a global gems sourcer and the founder of Rockstoc LLC and is
now based in NYC. You will find her often traveling for months around the world buying directly from mines or cutters. She has a background in digital marketing and IT and pretty much fell into this business by accident. Despite taking the next step to study jewelry engineering she always felt that the allure of searching for stones to be a remarkable intrepid adventure and decided to follow that path and later specializing in Burmese and rare stones. This is her 14th year in business. The main focus of the session will revolve around her experiences in the field and dealing with cutters, miners and dealers. As one of the few women in this part of the gem trade, Yvonne hopes to offer insight into what it's really like doing business in some of the most remote parts of the world.
